Overview

An Autumn Festival in the Heart of Bhutan

On this journey, you’ll experience Thimphu Tshechu, the capital’s grand annual festival held in the courtyard of Tashichho Dzong. Over several days, monks and lay dancers perform sacred cham dances in elaborate masks and brocade robes, while families in their best gho and kira fill the stands. The air hums with music, prayer, and the playful antics of atsaras (clown figures) who interact with the crowd. Thimphu Tshechu offers an unforgettable window into Bhutanese faith, community life, and royal traditions, all set against the backdrop of the country’s largest and most vibrant city.
