Spring of Color in the Paro Valley

Paro Tshechu is one of Bhutan’s most beloved spring festivals, held in the courtyard of Paro Rinpung Dzong. Over several days, monks and lay dancers perform sacred cham dances in vibrant masks and silk robes while families gather in their finest gho and kira. At dawn on the final day, a giant religious scroll (thongdrel) of Guru Rinpoche is unfurled, and simply viewing it is believed to wash away misfortune—making Paro Tshechu a powerful blend of celebration, devotion, and blessings.
