Merak sakteng trek
Overview
Merak Sakteng Trek – Into the Land of the Brokpa
The Merak Sakteng Trek takes you deep into eastern Bhutan’s most remote valleys, inside the Sakteng Wildlife Sanctuary. This route links the highland villages of Merak and Sakteng, home to the semi-nomadic Brokpa people, known for their yak-herding lifestyle, yak-hair hats, and unique traditions. It’s less about summits and more about culture, big skies, and wide open meadows.
