Jambay Lhakhang Tshechu
Overview
Jambay Lhakhang Tshechu is one of Bhutan’s most atmospheric festivals, held at Jambay Lhakhang—one of the country’s oldest temples in Bumthang. Over several days, monks and lay dancers perform sacred cham dances by day, while villagers gather in their finest gho and kira to pray, socialize, and celebrate. At night, special fire rituals and rare dances are performed around flickering bonfires, creating a powerful mix of devotion, mystery, and community spirit.
